I have to remove the flywheel so that I can replace the rear seals, but I don't know how to get it off.

You need to split the tractor. Remove the pressure plate and clutch disk. Remove the bolts in the center of the flywheel. Take a heavy nonmetalic object (hammer and block of wood) and a hard rap on one side to the flywheel. Force towards the radiator - motor. Then hit the opposite side of the flywheel. This should loosen it up.

PS. Be prepared to catch the flywheel as it may fall off.

While the flywheel is off is a good time to inspect the ring gear for wear. You can see one--maybe--two areas where the starter drive gear has been engaging the ring gear. If those areas are worn much at all, at some point, it will start grinding when the starter is engaged. Heat the ring gear, then tap off by going all around with a piece of wood under your hammer. Rotate the gear about 90 degrees and tap back on while it is quite warm.
