Postby Oscar Meier » Sun Feb 18, 2007 10:26 pm

Just working on my '52 Super A and wanted to check timing and discovered I could not find timing marks.

Thanks for any help.

It is on the flywheel. Take the cover off the hand hole on the bottom side of the bell housing. It will be on the outer surface of the flywheel and will probably be marked "DC 1-4". You are at TDC when the mark is in line with a rib cast into the cover in front of the flywheel.

Not easy to find. Once you do find it, you may want to dab a bit of white paint on to make it easier to see.

I've got a 48 super a that does not have the marks. I've had the flywheel off and inspected it real good. My 52 has the marks. Take the #1 plug out and put your finger on the hole and hand turn it till you feel the air pushing out the hole at top dead center. Look and see where the rotor is at on your dist cap. Should be pointing to #1.

Jim,

Thanks - That's the last place I would look. I'll open up the hand hole to night.
