George, the idea is still in my head really. When me and my neighbor get together in my shop or his, we come up with some crazy idea's to try
Wasn't too long back that we decided to have some "Tractor Pylon Races" one evening in my pasture
Had the whole neighborhood talking about it for weeks as my 8N was the winner that day. Of course I sort of "Cheated" as the other guys didn't realize my 8N had a Sherman Overdrive in it, and once I slapped it into high range, she really moved.
I've always wanted to do a flathead conversion, been trying to find an engine at a price I'm willing to spend, and I think I've got a line on a guy who has a couple and he might be willing to part with one pretty cheap.
As far as lowering the tractor, I think it will be pretty simple actually. I've got some "Extra" N parts laying around, so I plan to use the rear axles from an 8N. The 8-bolt pattern of the 8N axle is the same as 3/4 ton truck, so by bolting a set of 16" rims to the back axle will lower the rear quite a bit.
For the front, I'm either going to "Flip" the front axle/spindles around or possible figure out a different front rim set-up for that as well. I think a VW rim has the same rough dimensions as the 9N/2N rim, so I might find a way to go that route.
I figure this is going to be just a toy project, so if it doesn't work, who cares. Sort of hope I'd be able to "BEEF" it up enough to get the front end to raise up. My other thoughts would be to take the 3-pt hitch assembly and make it non-operating and make those into a set of "Wheelie Bars"
