Farmall A mower deck 5' or go 6'

Postby cjpenny89 » Tue Jan 30, 2007 10:48 am

Have any of you guys ran a 6' finish mower on farmall A? My dad has a 5' one and it does a great great job lots of power. I wonder if the 6' would still be lots of power or will IO be like cutting grass with my cub using a 5' deck?
I may buy a new deck and if I go that way maybe go 6'?

I would think that based on HP, you could use a 6 foot finish mower on the A.

wow for the price of a new woods 5' or 6' deck I will be getting one from Clem and retrofiting the cub mower to the Farmall A.
Yes I am well aware that the discharge of a cub is different from and A.

And of course the blades are mirror images... sharpened on the opposite side. Easy enough to change but the spindles are also threaded opposite. The blades will loosen in use.

well I am just going by my dads c-3 mower deck we have on his A it came from a 140 and If I recall his blades are through bolted with loc washers and nuts. as for the spindle threads the big nut has a lock collar on it so the nut can not back off.
My kub klipper blades on my cub bolt straight through also and have loc washers and nuts.
I do not know if that would be an issue?
You really think the C-3 mower deck from a cub is different from the C-3 mower deck made for a A -140 besides the blades and mounting?
might be time to look up some part numbers and cross check them.
George I like the info and will look into.
