Check Oil super A

Postby Oscar Meier » Sun May 21, 2006 8:50 pm

I just got a '53 Super A and found out it does not have a dip stick. There are two thumb screw plugs on the side of the oil pan - they are at slightly different heights. Is this where you check oil? If so - how?

Oil should come out the top tap on the pan. If it doesn't, add oil until it does.

Thanks - I am sure I will have many more questions. I have ordered a owners manual - but I wanted to do some basic maintance - like check the oil - I have never seen any motor that didn't have a dip stick. I've looked at Super A's for a long time and never noticed there was no dip stick.

Dip stick

Mine has a dip stick on the right side, but only because the motor is a transplant from a power unit. :)
