140 Transmission Oil Level

Postby workinonit » Sun Mar 24, 2024 7:03 am

Can someone direct me to a piece of literature that explains how to check the transmission oil level(s) on my 140s? I have looked through everything I can find and don't see anything.

To answer your original question, it should be in the owner's manual. I don't think there is a copy of the 140 manual on the PDF server. But that part should be the same as in the Super A Manual that is at:
[Farmall A, Super A, AV, 100, 130 and 140]
-->[Super A Manuals]
---->[Super A - Super AV Manuals]
------>[Super A - Super AV Owner's Manual]

If you don't have the 140 manual, a lot of the Super A manual applies. Just be aware that if something looks different. it probably is different.

Thanks Jim. That's where I found it, I just hadn't read far enough. My cousin has a manual for the 130/140 tractors. I need to get my hands on it so I can get it uploaded here.

Also the C-123 engine is not covered in the tractor's manual like it is with the cub.
When you only have 9 horsepower you need to know the names of all of the ponies!

If you are looking for maintenance information on the engine, it is in a Preventive Maintenance Manual. There is a combined one of them for the Cub/140/240/340. It is in the PDF manuals but under the Cub manuals. Look under [Farmall Cub]/[Preventive Maintenance manuals]. If you are looking for engine parts, it depends on which edition of the Parts Catalog you have. You may have to look for Parts Catalog ENG-1 which covers several 4-cylinder engines. It is in the PDF manuals at [Farmall Cub]/[Tractor Parts Catalogs]
Cub parts catalogs were the same way for a while. Thus ENG-1 covers the Cub engine too.
