140 trans in a 130?

Postby inairam » Fri Dec 22, 2023 11:36 am

My 130 with the IH1000 loader needs a trans rebuild.

I have a line on a trans from a 140.

I know the ratios are different but other than that any issues with doing a swap instead of a rebuild?
When you only have 9 horsepower you need to know the names of all of the ponies!

I don't think there are any differences other than the gears that have different tooth counts. The housing is certainly the same part. If you do start swapping internal parts, be sure to keep any shim stacks together with any related bevel gears and retainers in the original housing.

I wouldn't hesitate to swap the whole transmission. Easiest and cheapest option. Be sure to disclose to anyone in the future should you sell it. And definitely keep the old one around for parts or sell to someone for parts.
