Delco-remy red vs black lable on generator

Postby inairam » Tue Jan 10, 2023 2:15 pm

My recent post about my generator problem on my 130. I wanted to double-check the part number on the generator.

The tag was always against the block when took the belt off and lowered it I saw it has a red tag which I thought was 12 v on a Delco. The part number stamped in the housing is 1100531 a 6-volt and cub number as well. The tractor was set up as a 6-volt with a 6-volt battery since I got it.

Any idea why this 6-volt generator with 6-volt part number have a red tag?

We were out of black tags on March 26 1957 so we used red tags. :?:

Indy's explanation is as good as any. It looks pretty clear that the tag is stamped 1100531, which is the correct original generator for that tractor.

Possibly repainted. I see signs of overspray?
