Pull start rod

Postby MarkAkerman » Mon Oct 19, 2020 12:04 pm

I just located the old pull start rod for my grandfathers Super A, but it is too short and will not reach the starter switch. He had been starting it by hand. What's the deal? any help greatly appreciated.

I think he meant a photo of the rod, not the starter.

That switch looks backwards for a Super A. On the Super A you pull the rod to start.

Yes. Intended picture or not, it answers the question. That is an A starter, not a Super A starter. The switch on a Super A starter is oriented the other way and mounts near the brush end of the starter. The A rod is push to start while the Super A rod is pull to start.

Wow! So I wanted to replace the starter anyway. I want to keep it as accurate as I can for the Super A. Thanks, Mark
