Another one off the bucket list: Super AV

Postby Super A » Wed Jun 03, 2020 9:21 am

I had the opportunity to buy this Super AV recently! I have been wanting a Super AV for a while and this one kind of "spoke to me." (I must be deranged...) It's a '51, it does run but smokey. As you can see there's an issue with the left final....it has a replacement engine with a dipstick, I am not sure yet but I believe it might have been a new replacement--I need to do some cleaning but I don't see an engine #. Sheet metal isn't bad, tires have some serious sidewall cracking but hopefully they'll hold for a while. Somebody put Super A front rims on it so it sort of sits "nose down," hope to find some 19" front rims soon.....and I gotta find a Super AV drawbar and some cultivator frames!

Very nice, Al. Hope you got it for a decent price; it definitely looks to be used and abused.

Full restore?

Glad you got it. Keep us posted on your work on it.

Biggest strike against it is ugly paint and a questionable seat.

Eventually, a full restoration is what I am shooting for. By the time I get to that point, I'll probably be too old to care! I'm going to address mechanical items first and go from there.

Good plan. Wished I had filled up my AV engine/radiator prior to assembling the tractor. Could have found the water leak then versus pulling the tractor back apart to access the rear of the engine.
