Trying to start in 4th the first time, you might get thrown off backwards if you don't have a good feel for the clutch. I'd suggest starting in 1st or 2nd just to get a feel for the clutch, throttle, and steering.

Good advice , this is all New to me , I got the A where I worked when I retired and completely rebuilt it and painted , runs excellent just have not got it out of shop yet to try it out . One day this week I will give it a go.

Definitely start out slow! That 4th gear is a shocker if you aren't prepared!

Don’t use too much throttle in 4th unless your on straight smooth ground. That’s pretty much a traveling gear, not meant for work or rough ground. I think you’ll find full throttle in 4th to be a little ridiculous for a tractor.

Yeah, I was thinking 3/4 throttle in 1st gear might be the best, if'n you're just startin' out. ;)
