Super A exhaust manifold styles

Postby j.m.jackson » Mon Nov 04, 2019 10:21 am

I have a hole in the exhaust manifold on my Super A near the fuel tank. In looking at replacements, I see styles that have slots between the mounting studs, and others that don't. Any input on the difference between the two (other than the obviousness of the slots) ?

If you're referring to cuts through the mounting holes, many replacements have omitted that, presumably for cost reasons. I replaced a manifold on an H recently, it had no cuts. I used a cut-off wheel and added the cuts. The cuts allow the manifold to expand and contract with less chance of cracking. Given the choice, you want the one with the cuts.
