Place your bets now..will a 140 pull it????

Postby Shane N. » Thu Sep 05, 2019 6:51 am

Bought a John Deere M yesterday and it had several pieces of equipment with it. This offset disc is staying with me. I am trying to get enough stuff to do our garden with the 140 so I don't have to keep hauling equipment to and from the farm.

It has 12 brand new disc and the complete hitch for an M. What a mess of a hitch system. I want to add a fast hitch to it and hope the 140 will pick it up. I know it doesn't have the hydraulic system the M has but I figure if an M J.D. will pull this a 140 should too, they are close in comparison as far as weight and HP. If it won't pick it up I may have to add an axle and tongue and put a diverter valve on the 140 and make it a trailer type.

I think it will lift it. I have no doubt it'll pull it. If you can do away with all that complicated looking stuff up front, where that leveling adjustment is, you can save a lot of weight.

Well, we won't find out if a 140 will pick up this disc or not. The man I sold the tractor to wanted the disc as well. I can't blame him, these M implements are near impossible to find.
