140 only goes down

Postby Indy4570 » Fri Jun 22, 2018 4:10 pm

I have a recent gremlin in my 140, the lightest incline seems to choke off the fuel flow and I mean now. if its not turned back to level or downhill. it sputters n dies, I can back it up the hill no problems, tank looks ok and its not done this with this gas level before, ideas?

better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it...( YES this includes CUBS! )

Does it do it with a full tank?

My A and my Cub does that on a hill I have behind my house if it’s low on fuel. If I want to get back up the hill without refueling I go up in reverse. It is what it is.

+1 on low fuel level. My 140 does it too. I also had an Allis Chalmers B that did the same thing.

If it isn't low on fuel, remove the sediment bowl assembly and make sure it and the hole in the tank are completely free of debris and gunk. Check the fuel line too.

Park the tractor on a slope and check fuel flow by disconnecting line at carburetor. This should let you know which side of carburetor is causing starvation.
