Oil filter spin on adapter kit

Postby Pops140 » Wed Mar 14, 2018 10:33 am

OK so I ordered the spin adapter for my 140. There are two smaller holes. At either side of the big hole in the middle of the plate. Only one of those holes line up with the hole on the existing piece. Is this normal? Or should I drill that out more? I'm looking for some one that has a 140 and has the adapter kit as well, so they can look at there's and give me a picture. So I can either fix mine or whatever.

I believe the position of the holes in the plate doesn’t matter as it is dished and the oil would flow around and through.
I was looking at the spin on adapter too as it looked easier to change filters. I’m cheap and that $80+ price tag for the adapter didn’t thrill me. Let us know how you like it.

I like it alot I think as it doesn't blow up my tractor
I pushed some snow and realized that my oil pressure gauge is not showing pressure since I installed that new adapter. I didn't realize until after I used it for an HR I hope I didn't hurt anything. Let me know if anyone has had this happen too them. And knows what's going on

That doesn't sound good. I would put the old filter back on and try it again. Make sure you've got enough oil in the engine and squirt several pumps from an oil can into the small hole in the filter housing bore to prime the oil pump.

There’s a chance that the oil pressure gauges hole is plugged with crud. A little spray with carb cleaner may help.
