When you get to the point of cleaning the tractor up, spray the entire tires with some full strength degreaser like Purple Power and then pressure wash them (hot water if possible). You'll be surprised at how clean and good they'll look!

Hi Everybody!

I uploaded a picture. I hope it comes through!

Other than getting the plow on, I have noticed a few things that needed attention. The previous owner ran by the saying "if a little is good, then a lot is better." This being the case, as there was about 15 quarts of gear lube in the transmission/pto gear box. I somehow managed not to make my garage floor look like a BP oil spill. It now has 5 qts of fresh fluid, as defined in the owners manual.
He also used concentrate antifreeze (without water) in the radiator. My plan is to drain that tomorrow night and put in 50/50. He also ran into something (tree) and broke the right headlight lens and the top of the muffler. It currently sounds like a hot rod.

The rear rims are rusting pretty bad from being loaded their whole lives. I have be struggling to find 9x24 rims. Any suggestions?

Other than that, just some routine maintenance to get it ready for the winter. This spring starts the full rebuild.

M.E. Miller tire probably has rims. I'd look at getting blank ones, removing your old cleats, and having them attached to the new rims. The rims available now with the cleats already on them don't look "correct."

I am practically drooling on my keyboard over those tires.... New ones with that tread pattern are only available in one size, I believe for a N series Ford......

Also another source of anti-freeze loss is the seal on the hydraulic pump.

Can't loose antifreeze through the hyd. pump. Only hydraulic fluid. Loosing antifreeze is likely due to a bad freeze plug (welch plug) at the rear of the engine. Got to split it to get to it.

Hello All!

I hope you have forgotten about me

I have had a few events in my life that have side-tracked me from my SA project. Not including changing jobs and a hand injury that left me with little use of my right hand for several months last summer. I did manage to get to the Buckley Old Tractor Show and see some great old equipment.

As for the SA, she is undergoing the knife at the moment. The o-rings on the cylinder sleeves have given their last breath, as my coolant now acts a secondary oil. I don't think there is a seal or gasket that still holds back it's designated fluid. The rust on the rims have prevented them from holding air. The battery is deader than a door nail, the wiring harness has more exposed wire than it does covered, and the paint looks like junk.

At the current moment, I have it down to a rolling skeleton. I still need to get my puller to get the steering wheel off, then I can get the shaft out. Next will be splitting it for the engine rebuild and re-seal. I am thinking of using 5k lbs stabilizer jacks for an RV to hold up the back half. I need to get the trans tunnel off to get at more seals/gaskets that are leaking. Has anyone used these jacks before? Or what do you recommend?

I have been fortunate enough at the moment that I have not broken any bolts. Because this thing has leaked every fluid, all the bolts have been living in oil for what I can assume is the past 20 years.

Back to cleaning parts. Primer and paint for some of the little pieces, along with a carb, starter, and generator rebuild.

I will post photos when I can get some downsized to fit here.

Got a few more parts off. Down to the point of needing an engine hoist to pull the front end off and then the rest of it.

To keep me busy, I have started going through some components. The generator was cleaned and painted this weekend. It was last functioning, so I did not mess with it too much. It currently has a 4 post voltage regulator on it. I was going to get a new flat mount one to move it under the generator (like its supposed to be?).
