I've got a parts engine in the shop with a crank broken in the exact same place.

What's weird, if you look at the picture, there was some "meat" drilled out of crankshaft on both sides. The fracture went from one hole to the other hole. Not sure why these drilled out holes were ever put there. Unless it was done to balance it out for some reason. I have never seen that before.

Update: Pulled pistons, broken crankshaft, camshaft, sleeves and accessories out of engine block. Ended up having to pull sleeves because they were to pitted to hone them out. So obviously I'm looking at a complete rebuild on this one.

Ok I need some opinions. Casting code on block is 354898R2 and lower block sleeve bore measures 3.43" O.D. So this is a "C113/C123" block.
The pistons that were in it measure 3-3/16", so I'm thinking someone bored the sleeves. Should I upgrade to 3.25" overbore sleeves and run without water pump? It does not have a water pump now.

Stan_VA pretty well explained what you are looking at here:
http://www.farmallcub.com/phpBB2/viewto ... 60#p315871

I think 3-3/16 are/were available for that engine. I'd probably go back with anything 3-1/8 to 3-1/4, as available. Original in that tractor was 3.

Latest Update:
I have received new to me crankshaft and pulled gear from old one and installed on new crankshaft. I have been cleaning up engine components oiling them up and putting on shelf waiting on reinstalling. Cleaned and rebuilt governor and distributor. I am currently waiting on engine rebuild kit from Steiner that I ordered. I decided to go with 3.25" overbore kit.

Finally got her back on all four again... after rebuilding donor steering box, replacing axle pivot bushings, and putting new seals and bearings in wheel hubs.
