Sheet Metal for Anode

Postby fire escape » Sat Dec 09, 2006 3:56 pm

has anyone tried to use sheet metal instead of rods for electrolysis? I'm thinking of trying it in a large container for the hood and other big parts.

Some have used trays and other flat metal.

I'm still new with my rusty A. haven't seen many rear pictures of them. mine has a white light with a red light under it which is in great shape. it was taken off and stored inside. is this the light that comes with the A?? the few rear pics seen don't show it.

A few years back when I went to de-rusting larger items I made a tank out of a 55-gallon plastic barrel of which I still use to this day. My first experiment to do the floor pan and fenders off My Cub was to use an 8"X3` opened section of stove pipe. It worked very well as it fit the curvature of the barrel very well. the only problem was that the stove pipe rusted out very quickly being as it is made of thin-tin. Since then I have found My favorite item to use with slow or no sacrifice. And that is old Army/Navy mess hall trays that are made of SS/Steel. The pockets in the trays are stamped in such a way as to reflect line of site coverage to a wide area from a small piece of metal. I have used everything from hubcaps to turkey serving platters but the mess hall trays have worked the best because of the way they reflect from there design. The best part of it all was that I got lucky and found 10 of them in the thrift store for 25-cents each. :P
Then came Bronson

Guys:

Here is JonBron's Electrolysis Tank. It pretty much provided the impetus and the basis for my tank..
