After allowing my hood to slide off the saw horses  I built a stand for the hood using some scrap metal I had in the shop. I'm no Rick Prentice  but I think it will work

Thats nice Steve. At least you won't bend anything on the hood.

Very nice Steve, I was sanding on #2 today at lunch time and I had it all over the top of a stack of tires.
I'll get it home this weekend and fasten it down on one of my workmates...
That's real nice, be good to paint it on too.

Looks good Steve. With 22 hoods sitting around the barn something like that would come in handy now and then. Hmmm...lessee now, I have the scrap metal, I have a new mig welder to practice with, all I need to do is get out there and get busy.

Thanks for the idea.

When do you think you will be finished with that? I have two hoods that need attention & the garbage can way of doing it got old quickly on the last one.

Steve , that is an outstanding mount you built there. HHHMMMM , I could handle that out of wood but you have the metal under control looks like :D

Looks good Steve. Something like that will sure be handy if I ever get around to any restoration. I always plan on it, but never actually get to it. :?

Nice stand, Steve! I too got tired of the saw horse / trash can method of working on Cub hoods. Using a piece of 1" conduit and some small metal strap, I made a hood mount that fits into one of my engine stands. It allows me to work on the hood at any angle and I can paint the top & bottom at the same time.

Steve:

Very interesting solution to an annoying problem. This is a good method to support a hood. Now, would you consider consolidating this into a How To? I think and it appears I am not the only one that this is a good solution to a common dilemma. Let me know please so I can include it into the How To Forum CBoK and the main on-line CBoK.

Now this one interests me as well. It would be very interesting to see this as I have an engine stand and that is a great idea on being able to rotate and work on the hood at any angle. Be useful for finishing as well, we all know how much fun :? painting one side at a time can be. Would you also consider putting together a How To?

Both of these ideas are wonderful and definitely would be useful to many of our members.

Interesting you would say that Gary that is what David Hull said when I showed it to him last night So I will look into that when I get back out to the shop.

Hey Steve, that looks like some quality work to me :D :D Great job !! You'll be able to have a hood finishing demonstration at some cubfests now, plus that'll be great for setting down and applying the decals 8) 8) Plus I see you have the bolts in the front corners, excellent jig for those broken brackets.
