Throttle quadrant

Postby George Willer » Tue Jan 29, 2008 12:46 am

Just yesterday this subject came up in another thread...
http://www.farmallcub.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=223756&highlight=#223756

So the camera came out today to record the remedy. Here are a couple badly worn throttle quadrants that were on their 10th life... past worn out.

Here is the plan. Note that the quadrant also wears opposite the notches. Likewise the lever wears both on the tooth and wears a groove opposite the tooth.

Here are the parts ready for the torch. The teeth have been cut away and all is ready for the replacement strips.

The welding is done and ready for cleanup.

The extra metal is trimmed away and the surfaces ground flat.

The notches laid out and one of them cut and filed. It's much like filing a hand saw.

Here's one of them back on RatCub.

I think both of these are all set for another 60 years if used carefully.
