Re-cycle your hardware - the best tool my wife ever gave me!

I've been cleaning up the nuts and bolts, priming them and re-using them ever since I started this project. Unfortunately this is a slow process and took a lot of my time.

Last night my wife gave me her antique strainer from the kitchen, this may very well be the best tool in my arsenal...

Here's what it looks like.

And here's what I've been doing with it ever since...

1) Put in your slimy bolts, washers, nuts etc.

2) Put them in the parts washer and run the brush around like you're running a dish washer. :-)

3) Check out your squeaky clean hardware...

4) Time for the sand blaster. Shake the strainer around like you're popping popcorn while you blast. 30 Seconds should do it.

5) Here's the end result...

6) Now put them in your handy bolt painting jig. I bent this out of a piece of pipe hanger from Lowes.

7) Squirt a bit of your favorite primer on...

8) Enjoy your re-cycled bolts!

I hope it was as good for you as it was for me.

(Of course, you could always buy new bolts)
