Common Question:

How do I determine whether or not I have the old earlier style seal and retainer or the newer one :?:

Access to accurate information is critical if you are to get the correct part.. so check and make sure.

Original Seal Part # 251 378 R92 Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal
Original Seal & Retainer Part # 251 363 R11 Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal and Retainer

You can find this information on the Cub Manual Server under the TC-37A Parts Catalogue Pages 8 & 10.

New Seal Part # 364 692 R91 Seal, Crankshaft Rear Oil
New Seal & Retainer Part # 251 363 R21 Retainer W/Seal 364 692 R91 Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal

You can find this information on the Cub Manual Server under the TC-37F Parts Catalogue Section 12 - Power Page 7.

The later or New Seal/Retainer models can be replaced via CNH, however, the earlier or Old Seal/Retainer one cannot be and must be modified :!:  :(

That was the Bad News.. :!: :( Now for the Good News :!:   :D

To acquire the New Seal the Seal # is CR29952, (CR=Chicago Rawhide) for those of us who didn't know .. like me  :? ) and you can find it at most Automotive Supply Houses such as NAPA - CR29952.

And, the old R1 Retainer can be modified to accept the new CR29952 and a pretty slick modification has been found :!:   :D :D

At Rick's request, this post has been edited. Since Kub Kraft is now on line.. the previous offer has had to be rescinded for legal reasons. As soon as I can redo the article and get Rick's approval, it will be reinserted with the updated picture as well. Sorry for the inconvenience. IF you need it done soon, please send Rick and email via his Kub Kraft page.

Thanks..
