I will be installing an alternatior on this original cub
I hope to be able to take pics as I go all of these are the before
I will update soon
Here I am using the original bracket
The top bracket is one from Clint
As you can see I am using the old type fan with the small pulley
here you can see the coil with the built in resister , be sure to hook the - side of the coil to the distributor.
here you can see the new amp gauge and headlight switch
you do not have to change them, but I am doing this for a customer and dont want any problems down the road. I also replaced the old fuse holder as I am re wiring it too.

I'll be watching Boss, be sure to tell them they no longer need the late model fan with the larger alt pulley.
When using the Napa # 213 401 1SW one wire alternator it kicks in at a lower RPM.

I had to do it on the LOWBOY,. The Generator was WHO KNOWS. The regulator was a very good collection of rust and the wiring was a rube Goldberg. Just cut the wiring out, Replaced with Alternator as well as replacing the Amp meter with a volt meter. Everything ran well and it charged with no problems. i am sure y'all will find it to work the same for you.

Re: I will be installing an alternatior on this original cub
I installed a Chrysler ballast resistor instead of replacing the coil. I mounted the ballast resistor on the back side of the original coil, in the coil bracket mounting bolt hole. Took a longer bolt and a nut to replace the original shorter bolt. The ballast resistor is less expensive than replacing the coil.
I had to use a 20" belt. The generator had a 22" belt, which let the alternator hit the hood.
I replaced the original 20 amp IH amp meter with a 60 amp rated amp meter.
Alternator charges at just above low idle. At low idle, last notch on throttle, amp meter shows a slight discharge.

I have an excuse. CRS.
