New to club

Postby FarmMira » Tue Aug 29, 2017 8:34 pm

I'm John, live in N.W corner of Louisiana. Jack of all trades, former insurance claims adjuster, now farming due to wife's illness. I have a '51 Cub with mower, a 49 Super AV which has spent 50 years as a planter only and is currently being repaired for daily cultivation on farm, and a 46 H waiting for it's turn to be repaired...if ever. Cub and SAV are for use on farm. No parade tractor, but will be fully refurbished with new bearings, seals, wiring, and anything that might break from normal usage. I've had 20+ years as a golf course mechanic so it's normal to notice what will and what will not break. My Dad farmed with a '40 H years ago and as the joke goes, it ran when it sat up...back in '65. Now most parts have been stolen except the nice things, such as tool bars and planters (what hasn't rusted off). Thanks for the add

Thanks Mike, I'm John, live in Mira. My first 2 projects are the cub and super AV. The cub is good running but replacing cracked head this weekend. The SAV not sure yet. Was multifuel, used as a planter all its life but hasn't run in 15-20 years. Still turns over. Have to rewire as it had cloth wire which came off after power washing it. Then go through the entire mechanical system replacing any bad bearings and all seals. It will be my main cultivator once I locate front cultivating bars. My Dad farmed with a 1940 H SN # 18XXX and after sitting 60 years, has been stripped down and parted to bare frame. I have a 46 H but it's future project as cub and SAV takes priority. Let me know if I can help in any way, and thanks.

John, Good to here from you. I just got back from the cub fest in Colorado. It takes me at least a week to recuperate, and i only drive about 400 miles a day.
