hi my name is john live in central n.j. trailered a 1955 cub home 10 days ago. she has set outside/not run for 10 years.she is not pretty but is all there. has a 42" woods belly mower under her and came with a 1 bottom plow and hitch and cultivators.
took hood/gas tank off.put a battery in her. had no spark-filed points had spark.rigged up a small gas tank- gas ran right through carb-figured it would.took carb apart and cleaned it up.put it back on and she fired right up but engine knocked to beat the band, had no oil pressure so shut her down, thought i had a serious problem. thats when i googled farmall cub has no oil pressure and found you guys.primed the oil pump and problem solved, never heard off having to prime an oil pump, thanks. never any experience with a cub cant believe how smooth and quiet that engine runs not like my john deere 40.
next up - charging system not working. sure there is info on here about that. looking forward to accessing all the info and knowledge here to bring this cub back to life and looking good again. thanks again john

Oh NO!!! You should have read some of the warnings here about cub ownership:
First: Never remove the hood/tank!! It is only the beginning of that "while I have it off..." slippery slope syndrome!!!
Second: Beware of the hazards of joining the "MCC" = the Multiple Cub Club!!! It's like those potato chips: Bet you can't own just ONE!! Ask the many members of that club...myself included...it's a slowly progressive disease!
But seriously, WELCOME, and have fun with your new obsession. This forum will certainly assist & encourage (and enable) you!!! Lots of knowledgeable folks who love to share their expertise and there's some good info in the HOW TO section on pretty much any project you might have.
