New guy from maryland

Postby Agage1 » Wed Nov 30, 2016 6:18 pm

Hey guys my name is tony out of West Central MD. Just got a 154 for $150 while looking at some cub cadets. Wasn't looking for another project but it looks in real good shape and I always thought they looked cool so I hauled it home. It came with 2 decks and some fairly new AG's in the rear. I don't know much about these at all so I'm still trying to get it to fire. I rebuilt carb, fuel lines, and fluids but no start. Checked for spark and nothing. Did points condenser plugs and rotor. Now I got good spark but no start. Thinking timing issue. Hopefully some of you can point me in the right direction, still waiting for my shop manual to come in the mail

Welcome to the forum. Manuals available on this site. You will get more response if you post on the Number Series Forum. The C60 engine is the same in all the Cub tractors so timing issues info will be the same. TDC on compression stroke, check for pointer alignment at crank pulley, rotor at #1 plug wire, (plug closest to radiator) then clockwise on dist cap firing order 1, 3, 4, 2.

Welcome to the forum from another Marylander. You will find the manual you need by clicking the Quick Links icon (upper left of this page) and go to PDF manuals. Then go to the number series cubs. Good Luck.

Tony, Welcome to the forum.
If this tractor has been sitting a long time, prime the oil pump.

The #1 plug wire should be around the 1:00 position on the distributor when looking at it from the drivers seat.
