Colorado Cub

Postby Flybeyes » Sun Nov 22, 2015 7:20 pm

Just joined the forum. I registered my Cub in the Farmall Registry. This Cub has been in the family since 1955. It's a 1951 Cub and I believe we were the second owners. My grandfather used the tractor regularly and I cannot remember not riding on the back or driving it and then raising my kids the same. Five years ago my father started restoring the tractor and the radiator and fuel tank are completely finished and primed. He has since passed away in an accident and I've taken on the project of restoring the tractor. The tractor is from Missouri and now lives in Colorado. The plan is to restore the Cub so my grandchildren and beyond can enjoy this little gem. Overall the tractor is in great shape. So far I have verified numbers, found manuals, and did a compression check. The best cylinder is 70 so I'll plan on a rebuild. Should be a fun project with my son. Time to start searching the threads on this forum.

Welcome to the Forum from here in Ohio. I look forward to your posts as well as meeting you in September.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

This Cub spent its life in Oakville,MO. The family had a small patch of farmland back in the day and now it's a sea of subdivisions. I have the original brochure from Eime Hardware in South St. Louis. I really wish I could find, if one existed, his sales receipt. I would love to know what it cost. I have many Planet Jr. brochures and I see the plow, disc, cultivator, etc prices and they really surprised me how expensive these items were back in 1955. My grandpa had all those items priced out and it's fun to look at.

Oakville is way down in the Mo. boot heel. They went a long ways to buy that in south St. Louis, unless they lived further north then moved to Oakville.
