Traveling Cub

Postby Roadhokie » Thu Dec 25, 2014 9:52 pm

Being half-owner (with my mother-in-law) of a '48 Cub, I am pumped to have her in favor of my having it transported from Indiana down to Georgia, where I can work on it. It has a belly mower and has been functional in the not-too-distant past, but it's been sitting in a barn for probably the past 8-10 years - so, there are plenty of things to do to get it going again, and then prettied up. I've seen the '48s referred to as "MC D Farmall Cub" - do you guys know of a good history of the line, where I can tell what was going on with the manufacture in these years?

Welcome to the forum. A lot of background info here:
http://www.atis.net/CubFAQ/cub_faq.html

Plus, if you go to the manuals at the top of the page you can download an owners manual for it.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

Welcome to the forum from Arkansas. Tons of information on this forum. It just takes spending a little time to do some research. Then of course, as questions.

Welcome to the Forum. Be sure to prime the oil pump before you try to start her.
Check out me E's Deep South Cub Fest in Feb. You are only 249 miles away.

Welcome to the forum! As Mike pointed out, The Deep South CubFest will be February 13th - 14th, 2015 in Sneads Florida. It is always a great place to meet fellow Cub owners as well as gain tons of info about Cubs.

Thanks guys. Quick scan of this site yields a rating of 'fantastic', I'm diving into manuals etc. Maybe at some point I'll have enough experience to contribute something of value. Plan for this cub is new front tires, regular maintenance drain-and-refill all fluids, lube, fuel tank clean-out, new battery I suppose, prime the oil pump & have a go at starting it. If it will run well, then we'll degrease a bit and see what's going on. The Florida get-together sounds like lots of fun, except that's about the time I'll be becoming a 2nd-time grandfather so, kitchen passes are probably suspended around then. THANKS for the comments!

Where about in Indiana is it and when do you plan to pick it up? I live on the Indiana border.

You sure don't let any grass grow under your feet.  Good luck with the Cub. It will be fun and may even be addictive. :) :)

Okay, I am headed to Florida with an empty trailer and thought it might need a Cub Express ride in February.

@Bill "You sure don't let any grass grow under your feet" Well, far too often a procrastinator ... but maybe today's different, over lunch I bought out my mother-in-law's share of the Cub :D @Barnyard Thanks for the offer, might take you up on that sometime!
