Hello from Midland, PA

Postby FarmallCubby1949 » Mon Nov 03, 2014 1:09 am

New guy here, just want to say hello to everyone in this wonderful group. I'm the proud owner of a beautiful 1949 cub :D . It needs work which I'm in the process of restoring. I have already put new points, rotor, rotor cap, spark plugs, wires, manifold, and Zenith carb. I'm getting gas coming out of a port in the bottom of the carb. Is it because I'm not getting the proper vaccum from valve needing adjusted. I believe this is needed to get the fuel and air mixture from the updraft carb to the cylinders. If someone could shed some light on this for me. I would appreciate it. :help: :thanx:

It's nice to meet you. :) The carb drips regardless if I use the choke or not. It started dripping when I had the original IH 3/4 updraft carb on there. I put the new Zenith on there and it is still dripping. It only drips when I crank the engine. It almost wants to fire but then the fuel starts dripping.

As Eugene said, start a new thread on the "Farmall Cub" portion of the site with your question.

Welcome to the forum! You might be interested in the Cubfests held throughout the year. You are smack-dab in an area where you wouldn't have to drive too far to get to several. Check out the Cubfest Calendar: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=81945

BTW: Whenever my 3/4" updraft carb dripped gas, it was usually a needle valve inside the carb that was not closing properly or I over-choked it.

Welcome to the forum. Has this cub been running or sat for a long time?
As soon as it starts to drip turn fuel off and wait a couple of minutes and try with gas turned off.
You are getting fire to the plugs right.

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone. Being so busy with work and everything else. I discovered in my haste I hooked the plug wires to the distribitor cap in the wrong sequence. I will correct that problem and then I will post again to let people know if that was the only problem. The next time I post it will be in the standard cub forum. Thanks again to everyone who responded to me. :)
