Farmall Cub

Hello all,
I'm 41 years old, live in Stamford, Ct. and I Just picked up a 1956 lo boy that has been rotting away in the weeds for the past 20 something years, cleaned out the carb, filed the points, and baadaboom she fired right up!!! I Was so impressed that I stripped her down and started restoring her. Every seal and just about every gasket was leaking but still a great piece of machinery, the quality and craftsmanship put into these is incredible, right down to the IH Stamped bolts. she deserves to be restored!!! it's a real rarity to find a farm tractor in this part of Ct. Especially complete and all original right down to spark plugs, the oil was so black and watered down it was probably original too hahahaha, anyhow I'm at the point of getting the pulley off the crank and started looking for a puller to get it off as nothing I own will work on this pulley, so I came across a gentleman named earl who retired from fabricating pullers for this pulley and He turned me on to this web site and here I am.
I'm not sure of where to go on here next to post something to purchase, borrow a puller, or rent a puller from one of the members here. But any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum, lots of cub guys in CT, you can use a bearing splitter and a puller to get the pulley off also, I am not far away myself in Poughkeepsie NY

Hello Gene, welcome to the forum! I'm guessing you are referring to Earl Fauble who makes various tools for work on Cubs. I'm not sure why you want to remove the pulley unless you plan to tear down the engine, but make sure you go about it the right way or you risk breaking the pulley. Welcome to the forum from Arkansas. 41 year old, and a 1956. Those are good! Good luck with your restore. Where to start here, learn to post pictures is a good place, then just pull up a chair, kick your shoes off, and start meandering. A world of information on here.

I got it off with some help from the ole fire wrench, I had to melt it off, it's just a pile of slag now! I could use some new slag in the sand blaster. Hahahaha
Only kidding!! I did get it off and its in one piece and unbroken.
Barnyard, unless you have a secret way of changing a main seal without pulling that little s.o.b. pulley off let me know so I can skip this step on the next one I do.
I'll tell ya one thing, I've taken balancers off some big equipment before but this one was a stubborn little s.o.b.

The front pulley is a pressed fit. There may be someone around with the 'tool', it is pretty well impossible without one.
