NORTHERN WAIROA CUBS

Postby Northern Wairoa Cubs » Fri Aug 30, 2013 10:01 am

Hi Everyone,
A Bit of History. Our Tractors are based in Dargaville, Northland. We have approx. 15 in Two Purpose Built Sheds (40ft x 30ft & 65ft x 30ft- 8x Bays). There are Cubs, A’s, B’s, C’s, H’s, M’s, W4’s, 12’s, 14’s, 20’s. Not all going of course. My Grandparents, Parents & Uncle, only used Farmall’s to Develop the Land & Run It. I cut my teeth on an “M.” After retiring my Father & Brother gathered up a FEW MORE, plus Spares/Extra’s etc to add to the collection, (Sadly he’s got Dementia now). Fortunately the neighbour got Bored, (and likes tinkering with machinery), so I gave him a job – Fulltime. (There will still be some left for when I retire.)
I run Support for him; Information, Internet, Parts Sourcing etc. We’re currently working on a 1951 Cub (Serial No; 131490). We’re 95% finished – had the Motor running last week. Need to get Two Rear Rims and a couple of other Little Bits & then Finish It Off. I’ll post some photos when I learn how. Also, we’re involved in The Kaipara Vintage Machinery Club. Google it & you’ll get Some Idea.

We’re currently Doubling the size of the Building - need the space. There is a strong Sense of Preservation in the District which helps in many ways. My Brother & Brother in Law both have Dairy Farms & run Case 90 HP’s – Must be something in the blood. That’s probably about enough from me for now.
Charlie.

Charlie, Welcome to the Forum. I visited the website and it looks like you have a nice museum there, along with your collection of tractors. I had to look up kumara, but it appears to be similar to our sweet potatoes. If you need any help with the Cub, be sure and let us know. Last weekend we had our vintage farm show and I was pitching bundles into the thresher and straw into the stationary baler we have here in Colorado.

Suggest you post a want for the items you need in the (NEW) Classified Ads. Simply register with the same userid that you have for the forums, check your email for the activation message, click on the link and then log in and create your ad. Pretty easy. Also, you can check with any of the forum sponsors - you can find their links at the bottom of each page .. I know that TM Tractor ships globally. Others will require detailed info to ship. Hope that helps on the parts sourcing.

And for your reading pleasure:

Image to Farmallcub.com :big smile: Forum Family. And you have come to the right place for all things Cub related. If you click on the Site Rules, Regulations, & Important Information, it will point you to  the Welcome Wagon wherein you will find links to many useful sites and topics. One of the most important resources are Owner's Manuals, Parts Catalogs and Service Manuals. The Cub Manual Server is the home of the jpg versions and the /index.php]PDF Manuals -- well the pdf's of course  Enjoy!.

Hi Everyone,
Thank you Gentlemen for your replies.
It's a bit Hit & Miss at the moment with me. I've got a bit on.
Many thanks Rudi for pointing me to TM Tractor Parts.
Freight Cost is going to be the biggest thing - especially for the bigger bits.
Is there any Co. on Your West Coast that Ships Overseas ???
Bob, You're right, they are similar. My Mother reckons the Kumara is sweeter though.
I hope you worked up a sweat doing a bit of the OLD MANUAL LABOUR STUFF. It's good for the Soul they tell me.
Don't/Didn't do any threshing in Northland - All hay. My Father used to push hay (when he was a Teenager) to a Stationary Baler with a "12" with Steel Wheels.
Bloody thing caught on fire one day. Caused a bit of a PANIC. Don't know why.
My parents travelled through your area about 20 yrs ago. Went through Fort Lupton (Our Family Name).
Gotta go, talk to you all soon.
Charlie.
