New in Central Jersey

Postby Blackdogcamp » Fri Aug 16, 2013 9:38 am

Hello, My name is Walt I'm from central New Jersey. I just purchased a 65' International Cub with a Mott D9 flail mower, last week. I've been looking for this exact tractor for about the last 20 years, as it is the exact tractor that I drove when I was a 12 year kid working on a local farm here in Central Jersey back in the 70's.
The Cub was bought from a working beef farm in Sussex County, NJ. The guy that I bought it from told me that it was bought new by his wife's father, they had a farm in western NY, and then they started to use it on their farm in the late 80's. They used mostly just for mowing and moving around equipment. I was told that has always been barn kept and is mostly original. It runs nice no smoke, but a few leaks mostly just the oil pan and carb. The only other problem is it is slow to crank. I plan on using in a large garden (once I get out of NJ) and to mow. But first I have to clean it up, paint and fix all the small problems. Looking to hearing from all the nice folks on this site.
Good luck and God Bless, Walt

Walt, Welcome to the Forum. If you don't already have manuals, you can click on either the PDF Manuals, or Manuals link above and find most everything you'll need. Feel free to ask any questions. First order of business is probably to change all the fluids, and lube the mostly forgotten areas like the throw out bearing, fan hub, etc.

Bob

Edited to correct "hub fan".

Thanks Bob, I already bought reprints on Ebay of the: Operators Manual, Service Manual, Parts Catalog and Preventive Maintenance Manual. And bought a oil pan gasket, oil filters, carb rebuild kit and a brand spanking new Lincoln grease gun. I just finished changing the oil last night. I don't think the cub was neglected, as it did come from a working farm and was in the family all time, but you're right better safe the sorry with the fluids and grease. And I'm sure I'll have lots of questions. And thanks to all for the welcome. Walt
