New member with new Cub

Postby Ruffasacob » Wed May 02, 2012 7:33 am

Hello,
Thought I would stick my head in the door and say Hi. I've been lurking for a few weeks after buying a Cub. It's a 1963 LoBoy. It came with a fast hitch, disc harrow and plow.
This is really my wife's tractor. I have a 1945 Farmall A. After going to tractor shows I asked my wife what kind of tractor she liked. She said the Cub LoBoy. So after quite a few years this one popped up and I gave it to her for her birthday. I know, the family is kidding me that it's really for me, but she seems to really like it. I want to get a mower for it and it will be our grass cutter.
And with the implements I may have to plant a garden now.
The tractor is in pretty good shape. I had to clean the carb and the gas tank. I still need to split the tractor and adjust the clutch and replace the throw out and pilot bearings. After a little grill straightening and paint it will be quite presentable. At first I didn't like the yellow, but it's growing on me after a while. I know either red or yellow would be correct, but my wife gets to pick the color. She's leaning towards red.

Thanks for looking, Ruff

Welcome to the board, Ruff. Looks like you have a pretty nice Lo-Boy there. Actually the color is correct. In August 1960, the standard color of the offset Lo-Boys was changed to Federal Yellow. The paint is probably original, but it's your (her) tractor so paint it any color you like.

Welcome. Nice lowboy Ruff, that's the one I would like some day to go with the '48 Fcub. I've always liked the yellow.

Thanks for the welcome everyone.
I picked up a IH 50A mowing deck to put on the cub, so now I have to figure out how to attach it.
I'll be searching the site and keeping my eyes open.
Thanks again, Ruff
