Grandpas Cub Low Boy Question

Hello all, I am a new proud owner of my late grandfathers International Cub Low Boy. When I was young I use to help my grandfather plow snow and gardens with this tractor and now I am proud to be the owner of it. I know my grandfather was looking down on my and smiling when I drove it home. I know very little about International Cubs and am learning something new every day.

My grandfather use to keep excellent care of everything he owned, the tractor started right up after I figured out the gas was turned off. A question I hope someone will be able to help me with. I am still trying to figure out the year of the tractor but I am curious why the tractor is yellow and red. The majority of the similar tractors I see are yellow and white. I am not sure if this is something my grandfather may have done because it was the paint he had laying around or if it is the original color. Also, on the radiator of the tractor is the international sign but under it says "supreme". Again, I am not sure if this was something added by my grandfather or if this is actually something on the tractor.

I look forward to learning more about this wonderful machine, my wife and I are expecting our first child and I can not wait to plow snow with my boy on my lap as my grandfather did with me!!

Welcome to the forum and Congratulations on acquiring your grandfathers Cub!

Plenty of useful information throughout the forum, take some time and do some surfing, you will find it well worth your time. The following link should help you identify the year:

The paint was likely your grandfather expressing his liking!

Have fun with it and enjoy your new Cub,

Welcome to the Forum!!
Congrats on getting your grandfathers tractor. I'm sure you will enjoy using it as much as your grandfather did!! Also congrats on expecting your first born, that truly is wonderful!!

The color scheme is something of your grandfathers liking, as is the emblem on the grille. I also noticed that it has Super-A weights mounted on the rear. Nothing wrong with it, just pointing it out. There are a couple brackets on the tractor that I can't identify, one is mounted to the left side on the torque tube the other is on the front right side of the hood. Follow the link that David posted and use the tractor SN and engine SN to determine the model year. If the sheet metal is original, it should fall somewhere between 1963 and 1968.
Let us know if there is anything else we can help out with!!

Adam:

G'day and congrats :applause: on becoming the keeper of Grandpa's Cub :D It is really special when one is able to keep a family heirloom well within the family and another generation gets to enjoy that which was enjoyed by those gone before :!: Suggest you follow the links below as they will lead you to a lot and I do mean a lot of information/resources available to our members.

Image to Farmallcub.com :big smile: Forum Family. And you have come to the right place for all things Cub related. If you click on the Site Rules, Regulations, & Important Information, it will point you to  the Welcome Wagon wherein you will find links to many useful sites and topics. One of which is the Cub Manual Server. Enjoy!.

To find the year of your Cub you need to check the Serial Number Tag which can be found on the front bolster just behind the steering column. It should say International Cub Lo-Boy and then in the next box the Serial Number possibly followed by a J. Once you have that number you can check it against the serial numbers in this list - Cub FAQ's #1 on ATIS - Para 13 Tractor Serial Number List.

The International Cub & Lo-Boy Operator's Manual 7-29-65 should apply to your Cub and will provide plenty of insight into your Grandpa's Cub. Enjoy :D

Welcome to the forum, and congratulations on getting your Grandfathers cub, that is something to treasure. i am not sure without looking it up what the original colors would have been, whether yellow and white, or red, but personally i like the red tractors. That is just my opinion, and it is your tractor, whatever you like is correct. I don't know where he got the 'SUPREME' emblem on the front, but i like it. If you stand in front of it that forms a face with the supreme as the mouth, the IH as the nose and headlights as the eyes.
