Hello from Oklahoma!

It's great to finally be a member of the club! After dreaming about owning a Cub for years, now I have two of them. :D

When I was a kid the first tractor I ever drove was my Grandfather's Farmall 200, which I now own, so I've been a Farmall fan for most of my life. Even though I intend to restore the 200 someday, I still wanted a Cub for mowing and other chores. (I hate being cramped up on riding lawn mowers) :) Well everything finally came together last Saturday and I found an ad for two Cubs, one running, one not. I went to look at the running Cub and came home with both of them!

The ad said they were a 1953 and 1956 but a serial number check when I got home showed them both to be from 1952, and only 3 serial numbers apart. (148110 & 148113) They're pretty much identical with Touch Control, PTO, Electric Start & Lights, Adjustable Front Axle, & Rear Wheel Weights. The running Cub has what I suspect is a IH-Danco C2 Mower (nameplate is gone) and the non-running Cub has some kind 2-disc setup mounted under the belly. I'll try to post some pictures later to see if anyone can help me confirm what the attachment are. The non-running Cub hasn't been run in a couple of years and needs the carburetor put back on and a battery. Hopefully I can get it going pretty soon.

The gentleman I bought them from was a WWII vet and an absolute joy to visit with. He had owned the Cubs for a very long time and still used the running Cub for occasional mowing around his property.

I'm glad to be here and can't wait to start tapping into the wealth of knowledge and wisdom here in the forums!

And a BIG welcome to one Okie from another :!: You will enjoy your Cubs and if there is anything I can do, give me a holler.

Bill
(Skiatook)

PS The 2 disc set-up is probably a set of disc hillers used for throwing soil toward or away
from rows after planting or when hilling/cultivating plants. (Those with much more knowledge than me will either correct or add to my definition  )

Daniel:

Congrats :applause: on acquiring two almost sequential Cubs :!: :D To get em only 3 numbers apart is pretty cool... hope you get to keep em both.

All the information that you require is available simply by following the links below, from owner's manuals for the Cub and Implements, to parts and service manuals as well, plus tons of other pretty cool information. Enjoy the read and remember we folks here really Image, we really like em a lot :D

Image to the Farmallcub.com :big smile: Forum Family. And you have come to the right place for all things Cub related. If you click on the Site Rules, Regulations, & Important Information, it will point you to  the Welcome Wagon wherein you will find links to many useful sites and topics. One of which is the Cub Manual Server. You may also wish to check out the CubFests and Gatherings Calendar 2011 to find a gathering of fellow members where Cubs, Friends and a good time is shared by all. Enjoy!.

Welcome aboard! Don't forget to prime the oil pump on the non runner before starting.

Thanks for the warm welcome and great advice & information I've received already.

I took the hoods off the Cubs last week and gave them both a good pressure wash and ooooh-boy, that was almost a mistake. I had to fight hard against the temptation to take them the rest of the way apart right then and there to start fixing them up! I got them back together and they looked (and smelled) a lot better. I even mowed the yard for the first time with one of them. :D Yeah...I'm hooked! :)

I've set up a photo gallery and have started adding pictures. C'mon by and take a look.

I know they look much better now, but be careful, pressure washers will put water where it does not belong. Check all fluids for water. Keep away from radiator too.
