Thanks to all for your welcome and replies. I checked the fuel lines and cleaned the jet. I have been able to get her started and to run for awhile but it doesn't seem to be getting enough fuel and if it cuts off I have to wait awhile before I can crank it again. I finished the barn and she is sitting quietly now waiting on when I can get the time to work on it some more.

Just a heads up; sometimes having to wait for one to cool a bit before it will start is indicative of a failing coil. So is hard starting (that has many causes). Do you know the difference between a magneto, and a distributor? You can probably find pictures of both here. Let us know which you have, and more troubleshooting can be done.

Next time it stops, immediately check the quality of the spark. If not bright blue/white, then coil is likely a culprit.

If you are running a magneto with an old coil it is quite possibly your problem. When the tractor dies pull a sparkplug wire and hold it close to the tractor frame while cranking the engine over to check the quality of spark. If no spark or very weak spark then you probably need a new magneto coil.
