Hello From Cape Cod

Postby BobM » Wed Jun 17, 2009 6:28 pm

Hello all. My name is Bob and I just became the proud owner of a 1967 (I think) Cub. I have owned a 1948 Ford 8N that I brought home in a basket and successfully reincarnated. I picked up this Cub up in Pennsylvania a couple of years ago for a friend who partially disassembled it, lost interest, and this week traded me for a John Deer 650. The tractor is in very good condition and needs some cleanup, paint and rewiring. A think a "67" is supposed to have a positive ground, 12 volt system, this one has a negative ground, 12 volt starter and generator and an 8 volt (?) battery. I'll be spending time on this excellent forum to try to get it back to original. It has a 60" finish mower that can do my lawn in about three passes, but it will be my snow plow (justification). Just love old tractors.

Bob - welcome to the forum. Your 67 cub should have a 12 volt negative ground system. You can confirm the year of your cub by checking the site of one of our sponsors - T.M. Tractor (link at the bottom of each page) or check out the Cub FAQs at http://www.atis.net/CubFAQ/cub_faq.html . There is a serial number chart and lots of information there.
Let us know where we can help.

Welcome to the Forum Bob!!
Loads of information here on the site, also check out the "Manuals" link at the top of the page.
Definate no on the 8V battery, 12V would be right and the ones at Walmart will work and fit in the battery box just fine.
Good Luck and Have Fun with your new tractor!!
