About dracer398

Postby dracer398 » Tue Dec 26, 2006 9:15 am

Hi all.
My screen name is dracer398, The dracer" comes from drag racer. This is something that I used to do in the "80's". The 398 came from AOL back around 1995 when I first signed on to the internet.

I am working for a large gas turbine company as a field engineer. I have always been interested in mechanical things. When I was little I'd tear things apart to see how they worked, many times not being able to reassemble them. In high school, I took auto shop and had the best auto shop teacher ever!

He seen my deep interests in auto mechanics and encouraged me to participate in orginizations like Vocational Industrial Clubs of America (VICA) where we would compete against students from other schools in the automotive field. I took a bronze metal in the state competition.

In my senior year of high school he signed us up for the Plymouth Trouble Shooting Contest, our team took a 3rd in the state for that competition as well.

After high school I attended college but did not earn a degree.

I started in the work force in a GMC truck garage working on anything from semi's to pickup trucks. My father offered me a job as a construction millwright working on machinery such as pumps, conveyor systems and turbines. This work led me to where I am now. "Thank You Dad!" (RIP)

I'm married and have been blessed with two wonderful sons ages 13 and 20. Both gear heads! LOL!! I believe in Christ and he has given me so much!

I still have my drag car from the 80's, a 1951 Cub, a 1979 International 184 LoBoy and a 1945 Farmall H. I love my tractors. I think collecting them and working on them is a sickness! LOL!! My family does not understand...

My Cub brought me to this forum and all the wonderful people here and I am truly thankful for that!!

Well, that's me...

Brian

Doc,

It may be sooner than you think. Like maybe a week from Saturday! :D

We'll all meet a LOT of folks then.

Brian - one of the greatest parts of a CubFest is meeting old friends for the first time!

Brian:
I hope to meet everyone some day. I hope that my health allows that to happen. At this time I'm feeling great but you know how mother nature & the good lord has their way. See ya at cub fest '07 X3.

Jeff and BD, the 13th can't come soon enough for me. :D This is really exciting being my first Cub Fest. I wanted to catch the one last summer but time did not allow. I'm hoping that the weather holds out for us.

Everyone... all together now, pray for good snow free, warm weather.

O.k., Rick with the new snow blower is excused from the prayer because he really wants to help with his great new snow blowing machine, and if it's needed it will surely be welcomed. Of course it will be welcomed in either case so we can see it. !

I'm really hoping it will be possible for many of us to to socialize outside the warm shop where space will be limited. :(

However things work out we will be plowing new ground with a winter CubFest! :D

I'm really looking forward to it.

Friends are friends and we can't get together often enough.
