New to this
Hello, my father recently passed away. He had a Farmall 140. It hadn't had any maintenance done on it for the last couple years. I changed out the battery(wouldn't hold a charge) and got it going. Seems to be in decent working condition. I really don't know anything about tractors, so I was looking to learn a little more about this one. That is why I joined

Thank you. I never figured I'd be into tractors at all, but we are going to move in with my mother and are interested in doing a little more in terms of garden so I got to working on the tractor and had a really good time messing around with it.

Sorry for your loss, but I hope playing with "your" 140 brings back good memories of your father!
Also, you should be warned...these red tractors are addictive!!
You should have access now (I think!) to all the manuals available here...see above QUICK LINKS. WELCOME!

Welcome to the Forum! Sad to hear about your dad. Our condolences and sympathy at your family's loss.
When you have some time, read through a few threads to acquaint yourself with the Forum:
Now that you’ve logged your 2nd post, you'll have access to the all the PDF Manuals on this site. From a desktop or laptop, they’re located via "Quick Links" in the upper left corner of your screen. Hit that and a pull-down appears where you'll find "PDF Manuals". If you're using a phone via internet connection, then they are located in "Links Directory" (second category down the main page). Hit "Links Directory" and scroll down to the second section "Tractor Parts & Manuals" and you'll find them there. Don't know how many manuals we have for the 140, but what is there is for your use.
We’d encourage you to take the Safety Test located in the Safety Forum: http://farmallcub.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=68084
Might also enjoy reading through this thread (even though it’s for a Cub, much can be applied to any tractor just acquired): What to do with a Cub you just brought home
There are a lot of good threads dealing with Cub repair and maintenance in the How To Forum (again, can be applied in some cases to other models). Located here: http://farmallcub.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=11
Take some pictures of your 140 and post them, we’d like to see it.
Remember:
• When you have a specific question, start a new thread in the appropriate sub-forum (in your case, Farmall A, Super A, AV, 100, 130 & 140).
• Before posting, use the Preview button before hitting Submit--it'll show you exactly what your post will look like, including pictures.
• When adding your comments to a thread, be sure to look at the date of the last poster. If it’s more than a 6 months old, the posters are probably not going to see it. Start a new thread.
Glad you joined us.

Re: New to this
Sorry for your loss.
Sometime back I had seen a Cub for sale near me which brought me back to my childhood having farmer neighbors and friends who routinely worked those big red Farmalls behind our home. With the passing of my Mom I brought it home.
I thought it was neat but it was also an impulse thing as I needed something to occupy my brain.
I know Mom would have thought it was neat too.
I’m sure working on that 140 with the memories you have in it will be good for you too.
There’s lots of kind folks here to help you along the way.
