Buddy&jerry

Postby Buddy&jerry » Fri Dec 06, 2019 7:29 pm

I live in Altha Fl I’m 71 years old
I recently was given a 1973 international cub
Serial # 241028 J motor# 251341 R8
It had been setting outside so I changed the engine
Oil & filter, transmission oil, hydraulic fluid,
Steering box,final drives
Would barely run until I retimed it running good now
I rebuilt the hydraulic pump because it leaked
Where the pipes connect, sadly it still leaks
Used Steiner rebuild kit
Have fast hitch disk, planter, bellymower 144 cultivator
Looking forward to CubFest in Snead’s not very far

If you are talking about the O rings, you should be able to get them from any tractor dealership.
I have an excuse. CRS.

welcome, look close at the leak, as the lines may be leaking where they are welded on

I rebuilt the pump with the Steiner pump kit using
The new o rings
I’ll check the pipes tomorrow
Also there is suppose to be a # under the fill plug
On the hydraulic block there is one on the block head
But not on the side ever known of this before

:Dito:
It is not uncommon to have the lines leak right where they enter the rectangular block that bolts to the pump. Fairly easy to be repaired by someone who can braize around the base of the tubing.

Welcome, and see you at DSCF (Deep South Cubfest) in Sneads in February!!!

For the block #, try looking on the FRONT of the block...later ones had the part number there.

There is a # on the head end of the block
I wasn’t sure if that was the right #

No, the head will have its own part number. Most TC blocks have the part number (and casting date) on the left side below the filler plug, like this (photo is upside down :? )
s-l400.jpg

If yours is not there, it MIGHT be on the front, where the piston and control rod and rockshaft are, and will be hard to see because of its location and grunge!

Welcome to the Forum!

Take some time and read through a few threads to acquaint yourself with the Forum:

Don't know if you have any manuals to your new-to-you Cub, but now that you have 2 posts, you can access all the free PDF downloads in the Manuals section. They are located via "Quick Links" in the upper left corner of your screen. Hit that and a pull-down appears where you'll find "PDF Manuals". Through that link, you'll be able to download an Owner's Manual (very strongly recommended), a Parts Manual and any service manuals that interest you.

Might also enjoy reading through this thread: What to do with a Cub you just brought home

Take some pictures of your Cub and post them, we’d like to see it.

Glad you joined us.
