Newbie Nebraska

Postby C.Kacvinsky » Mon Oct 07, 2019 2:29 am

Hey everybody I new and happy to be here. I recently inherited my great grandfather’s ‘49 Cub. It passed down through my grandfather and my uncle to me. It’s been sitting in a shed for 15ish years but it ran when I was parked there and it still turns over. So I believe it’ll run once I replace all the fluids. I’m looking forward to restoring it, and I hope to post a photo of I can figure that out.

Make sure you prime the engine oil pump before attempting the first start.

Welcome to the forum. This is the best place to learn about Cubs.

Frank should be along soon to welcome you also. He lives in Grand Island.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Welcome!

Take some time and read through a few threads to acquaint yourself with the Forum:

After your 2nd post on the Forum, you'll have access to all the free PDF Manuals. They are located via "Quick Links" in the upper left corner of your screen. Hit that and a pull-down appears where you'll find "PDF Manuals". Through that link, you'll be able to download an Owner's Manual (very strongly recommended) and any service manuals that interest you. You'll be able to familiarize yourself with your new-to-you Cub more quickly. Implement Manuals are also available.

Might also enjoy reading through this thread: What to do with a Cub you just brought home
As Don mentioned, one of the most important things to do before trying to start up your Cub (since it's been sitting for a few years) is to prime the oil pump. Remove the oil filter top and filter. There's a small hole in about halfway down the back side of the filter opening. Squeeze engine oil in there until it overflows that hole. Consider it primed.

Take some pictures of your tractor and post them. We’d like to see it.

Glad you joined us.

Welcome to the Forum, from a "part time" Nebraskan! (I have a place near Albion)

Congratulations on obtaining your great grandfather's Cub, it's neat to see them stay in the family.

Best of luck,

GBR  ,
David

Welcome to the forum.
Drove through Lincoln last Friday on my way to Denver and saw it from the air this morning on my flight to Chicago.
You need a whole herd of Cubs to farm in Nebraska.
