Hello all,
I’m a newbie to FarmallCub.com. I have a 1947 Cub. It’s been in the family since it was purchase new in 1947. Serial #5741. Engine block # 8-27-Q (cast on August 27 1947).
I learn to drive on it & watched my grandpa & dad work on it, without paying close attention. Now dad has let me take over the maintenance.
So I’m now the 4th generation to work on it! I’m mechanically inclined, but have little experience.
Our Cub has has professional service repair done over the years, as well as my great grandpa & grandpa’s religious lubrication.
It’s never had a major restoration, or an engine rebuild. It is time.
I hope I can learn from you all here & zero in on what I can do myself and what I should leave to a restoration professional!
It’s wonderful to know that the Cub is still a popular little workhorse & that there are many resources & enthusiasts to keep it going!
Ann

Re: Newbie
WELCOME, another female...we need more here! Too bad you are so far away...it would be fun to get together sometime. Maybe you would be able to attend a cubfest sometime. The folks on here are always eager to help, so if you have any questions or problems, ask away!
There is a treasure trove of solutions to common problems in the HOW TO section...good reading! Plus pretty much all the manuals for the cub are available for free download (after your 2nd post, I believe) via the QUICK LINKS, in the above left corner.
Have fun with the family cub!

Welcome to the Forum. It's great to hear when a Cub stays in the family from it's purchase on.

Welcome.
Stanton should be along shortly with the Welcome Wagon. Be sure to read Stanton's post.
Not sure what you mean by major restoration. Do not be concerned about the cosmetics, the very last thing you need to do to the tractor.

Perhaps. Check the engine's condition first thing.Anne wrote:It’s never had a major restoration, or an engine rebuild. It is time.
