New member here. Just bought my father in-laws Farmall Cub this past weekend. He is downsizing, at 87 years old he has given up splitting firewood and cutting slabwood.
So I got the 49 Farmall Cub with Fast Hitch, mounted verticle splitter he built. Also has a mounted bucksaw made to fit on the fast hitch. He had lots of other attachments, but I did not get them. No space, or need on my 1.5 acre place.
I have used it for years, but wanted to "keep it in the family". It was originally my wife's Grandfathers.
I'll post some pics when I finally figure out how to do it here.
I'll have to get used to working on it, as all I have here is Allis/Simplicty garden tractors. Mostly from the 60's up to 90's. Aslo have a 2005 Simplicity Legacy XL with a loader.

Welcome to the forum. Final drive clunks could be a loose wheel or weight.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Saw the post about checking the easy stuff first. But as a rule Mr Murphy tends to visit me.
But here are some pics of the tractor in action.

Welcome!
Take some time and read through a few threads to acquaint yourself with the Forum:
Now that you have 2 posts, you can access all the free PDF downloads in the Manuals section. They are located via "Quick Links" in the upper left corner of your screen. Hit that and a pull-down appears where you'll find "PDF Manuals". Through that link, you'll be able to download any service manuals that interest you. Even though you've already ordered manuals, I'm sure there are some on here you didn't order. Implement Manuals are also available.
Might also enjoy reading through this thread: What to do with a Cub you just brought home

Good to see hearing protection and gloves in use with the buzz saw. Eye protection is very advisable, too.

Re: New Member with a 49 Cub
Can you post some photos of the pto-driven hydraulic pump? That looks like a pretty clean integration.

Re: New Member with a 49 Cub
As requested. I cannot claim credit, father in-law did the engineering work. But yes it is pretty slick. Only have to make sure that the two shafts are parallel so the matched belts both drive the pump
