complete rookie, decent fabricator
I'm Troy and I think I just started a new obsession. I recently bought a 1952 Cub from my neighbor. I've never owned a tractor before and it's been fun learning about them, especially realizing the community behind these particular tractors. I bought it with a couple of projects in mind and I've already found a lot of helpful information on this forum to help with those.
My main reason for buying the Cub is to build a loader for it. I want to model it after an IH 1000 loader, just homemade. I live in the city basically, so I'm just looking to build it to move mulch, or rock. The other thing I want to do is add a 3 point quick hitch to it. My tractor didn't come with the rock shaft, so I started making that already. Once that's done, I can figure out the dimensions of the rest of the mounting brackets. The hitch will allow for the back blade for moving the stone I mentioned.
I'm looking forward to reading more on the forum and learning as much as I can. Thanks for reading this.

Be careful, though...the obsession can often lead to a bad case of MCC (Multiple Cub Club)!!

Welcome!
Take some time and read through a few threads to acquaint yourself with the Forum:
After your 2nd post on the Forum, you'll have access to the all the free PDF Manuals. They are located via "Quick Links" in the upper left corner of your screen. Hit that and a pull-down appears where you'll find "PDF Manuals". Through that link, you'll be able to download an Owner's Manual (very strongly recommended) and any service manuals that interest you. You'll be able to familiarize yourself with your new-to-you Cub more quickly. There are both the IH 1000 Loader Owner's Manual and Parts Manual available (after your 2nd post).

Troy, Thanks for joining us and welcome. You might want to mark your calander for October 18 & 19 to attend the Shallow Creek Farm CubFest to be held in Harrison Ohio just east of Cincinnati. Several forum members will be here, so it would be a good time to meet others and talk about your projects. Some folks camp on site while others get motel rooms and make a weekend of it. Feel free to contact me about more info about our CubFest.
More info about CubFests in general can be found here. www.CubFest.com

I just have the 1 picture at the moment, and it's not the best. I've literally just drove it home from across the street and around the backyard a bit, so I haven't spent much time with it just yet.

Take us along with you on your build. Keep posting as you go. I don't think there's anyone on here that doesn't enjoy watching a project as it moves along. We all learn from each other... Welcome aboard!!

Welcome to the forum Troy. You're going to love it here. Boy that cub looks familiar You might as well throw a cover over your big CNC wood machine because the cub bug can't be stopped once it takes hold. You failed to mention that neighbor is me I'll do my best to get you into cub #2, ha ha. Now we can have a parade driving around the back streets of Holland. One of the officers on the police force is up to 4 cubs now, so no tickets
When I told my dad I've been misplacing things and doing stupid stuff----His reply---"It only gets better"

Troy, you have hit the Cub Mother Lode. Rick Prentice is your neighbor! Rick is indeed one talented individual and I'm sure you have found out, a very fine person.

Re: complete rookie, decent fabricator
I got the quick 3 point hitch from Harbor Freight and made some brackets to attach it. Now I just need that landscape rake so I can get this years project done. My neighbor also gave me some components to make a hitch for the front end, so I’m gonna try to get that welded up and installed this weekend as well. It’ll be nice to move the trailers around with the Cub.

The rocker shaft connecting rod is on loan from my neighbor too, I needed one so I could get the sizing to make my own.

Now that we know Rick is your neighbor, toss him in a truck and come on down for our October CubFest.

Hello Troy,
I hope you like it in here. I have found this to be a lot of information to help along the way. My Cub is a lot newer than yours, but the people are right here; I have started looking on craigslist for other cubs. Is that bad? I like the hitch. I have to figure out something like that for my tractor. Keep posting the work in progress. Everyone likes to hear what is happening.

Now that you have a 3-point setup, perhaps one of these will do the job.
