Welcome to the forum. You're not that far from Fredricktown, where each September, the last weekend of the month, there is an event called Cubarama, where Cub owners get together and show their tractors. If you can make it, it's a great event.

I will try to post some pictures in a few days. I was able to get the cub running with very little work. At the same auction I picked up a few implements for it as well. I got a 193 plow,a disc plow, sickle mower and a flail mower. I'm going to try out the sickle mower this weekend.

Not knowing your experience with a sickle mower, many on here will warn you to be VERY careful you don't put your fingers anywhere near the rock guards and/or blades when moving, raising or lowering the bar. They often can shift, just a little, allowing the blade to move when raising/lowering them. Please be careful.
Would like to see those pictures. Where was the auction located?

Re: New guy from Missouri
Welcome.
Mow a bit then try to stop the tractor. Clutch depressed, mower's momentum will drive the tractor.
Bunches of other cautions when using the sickle bar mower or any other mower.
Take the tractor to the middle of a big field before putting it into service.Stanton wrote:Not knowing your experience with a sickle mower, many on here will warn you to be VERY careful.

I have an excuse. CRS.

Re: New guy from Missouri
The auction was just outside of Perryville mo. I have no experience with a sickle mower. Thanks. I will take it slow the first time. I plan on using the sickle for taming the rough stuff the using the flail mower for upkeep.

Re: New guy from Missouri
Dale,
He's east of the storms - they were mostly in southwestern Missouri to mid-central Missouri yesterday and last night, with some north of St. Louis yesterday evening. He's south east of me, and we were fine in my area, which is about 60 miles south of the St. Louis area. But it's been a rough go the last couple of days with storms mainly to the west and north of us.

Re: New guy from Missouri
No tornados or flooding here. It stayed on our north and west. We just got back home today from a trip to Arizona.
I'm going to rebuild the touch control on my cub over the weekend. The fluid runs out of it about as fast as I can pour it in.

Not sure if you can see the leaks or not. If not, it is somewhat common for the pump O-Ring to leak, which lets your hydraulic fluid go into the engine crankcase. Check your oil level, if overfull, you may need a pump rebuild. Do searches on this procedure as there is lots of information on where to get the correct parts and what to look for. Also you need to use Hy-Tran or equivalent fluid in the Touch Control unit.
