Tenderfoot owner of tired old Cub

Postby Longtree » Fri Sep 25, 2020 11:16 am

Hi everybody!

I'm a first time Cub owner.....first time tractor owner.....first time old-vehicle-of-any-kind owner (unless you count the '88 VW Jetta I drove in college  )

Back in May I bought what my serial number tells me is a 1949 FCub off of a guy in my town who had been using it as a lawn ornament for a number of years. My wife and I would see it when we'd go out walking and I had been drooling over it for years now.
Finally wore him down and now it's mine! Was told it originally came out of the onion fields in the black dirt region of NY. Been a great / fun project so far during all of this Covid-ness while I (temporarily?) work from home.

Have managed to get it running (pretty well I think, if not perfectly yet) and moving, so I think things are going alright. I admit I have been an outside stalker of the posts on this site for much of the time I've been working on her - you guys have been incredibly helpful already and I havent even asked a question yet haha. At any rate I thought it might be time to become a part of the community. Thanks for taking me aboard - I don't have anything in particular to ask about right now, but I thought I'd just say hi and break the ice :).

Cheers, folks - talk soon probably haha....still needs plenty of work!

Welcome to the group. As you have noticed, we are here to help.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Welcome to the forum. It's nice to hear that a lawn ornament has been returned to it's original purpose.

Thank you, Gentlemen. Yes - very helpful already. I swear every time I google a question or an issue, this forum is the first and best answer. Happy to be a part of it - hope to contribute as time goes by. It's a bit of a struggle to work on mine, as I have no garage / barn / cover so everything relies on good weather.......and free time......and money ;).

When you need some relaxing down time, scroll through the HOW TO section...it 'bout covers everything, and is quite interesting. I usually check there first if I am trying to work something out...I figure "why reinvent the wheel" if someone has figured out an easy way to do something!

Welcome, and have fun!!

If we get back to some semblance of “normal” by next October, you’ll have to load up your Cub and bring it to Cubfest Northeast in Oxford, NY. Good fun, good food and lots of learning opportunities. It’s less than a three hour drive for you.
