New member with Dad's restored tractor

Postby rhythim » Mon Feb 27, 2017 10:59 am

Hi Folks,

Just pulled my Dad's 1948 Cub out of the barn from 20 years' worth of storage. He restored it back in the mid '90s down to every last nut and bolt. Has a few things that aren't totally correct, but he also meant to use it like it was intended to be. I rebuilt the carb, filed the points, added fresh gas, primed the oil pump and it lit right off. Spent yesterday flushing out all the fluids, greasing everything and cleaning it up. I'm going to restore the deck and the sickle bar we have for it and play with it every now and then. It's the last thing my dad restored before he passed, so it's going to hang out with me for awhile.

Greeting from another Middle Tennessean. I am in the Lebanon area. We need to meet up sometime.

That is one sweet Cub. I know I lost my father and now own his 1948 Cub which is unrestored and I am just has proud of it as he was. I think he loved that little tractor , and I know I do. I am new to this cub site as a "registered user"---I have been reading stuff off here for awhile found via Google searches. ---Hope I can find my way around and ask a few questions without annoying any of the old pros.
Dad's Cub is my Cub and I love it like he did !!!! :)

You aren't that far away from the Barnyard Bash next weekend. Are you going? Well worth the 4hr drive! Check it out, and come meet a bunch of the forum members. Lot's of knowledge, hands on experience, good food, and many tall tales! :{_}:
