Tim, welcome to the forum. Glad to see you plan on attending DSCF. My wife and I will be coming down from Ohio with a Cub I plan to work on. If you can, bring your Cub along. You never know, the guys there may get it unstuck. Look forward to meeting you there. Make sure you reserve a hotel room so you can spend a couple days. We usually get there sometime on Thursday and stay until Saturday afternoon.

By the way, here is a little more info about CubFests. www.cubfest.com
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Tim, Bob McCarty is just being modest. He's one of the carb guru's who usually will be there. McDonald Carb is a good place to get parts, complete rebuild or individual parts.

If you know what you need, post a list in the Vine forum. It'll be more likely to show up that way.

I'm not a welder, but everyone says that cast is hard to weld. I'd first check with a straight edge to see how much the top of the bolster bulged up. The cooling system is non pressure and it might be just as good to "V" out the crack and use something like JB Weld or epoxy to repair it.

My first F Cub had the same problem. Someone prior to me tried to fix it with I'm guessing some sort of epoxy. It lasted about a year after I bought it. I replaced the bolster. Problem solved.

Bob

As Bob said, if there are any parts you know you need/want, post an ad in the VINE classifieds section. Usually there are a couple people who do bring parts for sale, but since many parts are heavy and it's a hassle to load and unload a lot of parts, they might only bring what they have already arranged and for which money has been collected.

If you are bringing your tractor, you might post an ad for a bolster, and just swap it out (while you have help available!), as twotone suggested. It is a FAIRLY basic poject, but there are other parts you would want to bring with you:
From TM TRACTOR PARTS (a Forum sponsor with link below):
Stainless steel radiator bolt set and Radiator gasket

And from any auto parts store, 90wt gear oil for the housing ("bolster") & Antifreeze

That is just an example of things you might advertise for, but it is best to do it so sellers know what to load .
