HI FROM THE PHILIPPINES!

Greetings everyone!

I am Miguel from the Philippines.

We own a farmland in the northern part of the Philippines (San Ildefonso Bulacan) and my Father recently bought a Farmall Cub that we plan to restore to working condition (Hopefully) and we plan to use it also as a display piece.

Here are the photos before we purchased the tractor.







It is now in our farm and being assessed by our farm tractor operator the needed works.

First question, can anyone identify the exact model?

Second is can anyone suggest a good source of parts? (websites) We will be travelling soon to the US and we can have the chance to pre order the parts.

Hello Miguel, Welcome to the forum. Bottom of page T M Tractor parts is a goog place to order parts. The serial # is on that tag at the end of steering rod. The T M PARTS SITE HAS A LOOK UP FOR THE SERIAL NUMBER.

Everything looks like standard Cub until you get to the front end. It looks like it has a French Super Cub front axle grafted to a standard Cub. I see the serial number tag on the front bolster in one of the photos. Can you still read the numbers?

Thank you very much! The site is very helpful! Based on the serial number I think ours is from 1953. Is there a page or reference that we can see a diagram of the parts installation. Actually we plan to bring it to a professional mechanic, also I will print all the pages of the parts sold as new feom the website that the mechanic can use to determine the missing parts, I was just thinking that a diagram can also be a guide.

Here are some pics my father took a while ago in our place. The site you recommended is from Maine USA. We have an uncle who lives there and we plan to ship the items in his place, then he will crate it to the Philippines.

That serial number does make it a 1953. The J after the serial number indicates a Rockford clutch (which was an option). The Rockford clutch has additional springs and is heavier duty.

Another note, with that narrow front end the tractor will roll easily, especially on the left side since the weight of the engine is offset. If you have to run on a side slope, keep the left wheels on the high side. This is true for all offset Cubs, but the narrow axle removes any margin of safety that the wide axle affords.

Looks like you have some work ahead patching and filling holes on the hood and the grille was home-made. Otherwise the sheet metal gooks fairly good. The front axle was narrowed, who knows why. Your rear tires are exceptionally oversize, 9.5-24 is the largest typically seen on a Cub. Otherwise, it looks pretty original.

The Rockford clutch is no big thing either way. IH used Rockford and Auburn clutches. The J let a mechanic know which type parts before opening it. You may no longer have the same type that was originally in it. Rockford style parts are all that are commonly available now.

Wish you were visiting North Carolina...I would beg you to bring a bottle (or two!) of Tanduay Rhum (rum)!!! My sisters and I fell in love with it while on SCUBA diving trips to the Philippines!! So smooth and absolutely delicious!!

Where in the Philippines are you from? My daughter in law has family somewhere near Cebu. A beautiful country!!
