Front Tire Removal Pictures
This subject has been covered before but I don’t recall seeing any pictures so maybe this helps somebody. I removed front tires from the rims for the first time today and was easily able to remove them following the How To Forum. I took photos since I didn’t see them on previous posts. I took the tires into the basement overnight to warm them up. The first tire took me 15 minutes and the second about 1/2 as long. I’m not gonna reuse the first tire so I wasn’t overly careful but caused no bead damage so I didn’t use any lube or the plastic bag method and the both came off easily with no bead damage.
This is after beads are broken from the rims.
I used 2 $5.99 light duty Harbor Freight tire irons and an old flat file.
The key to getting the tire off, as stated previously and in the How To entries, is to make sure the bead, at 180 degrees from where you pry the bead off the rim, is pushed toward the center of the tire to allow room for the tire irons to get the bead over the rim. I just put my knee on the tire.
Then you just use the tire irons a few inches apart to move the bead over the rim. I used the file to keep the tire in place over the rim. Once I got about 40% of the bead over the rim I stepped on the rim and pulled it off without much effort.
I pulled the tube out and, even though I don’t plan to reuse them, I used my little valve stem core removal tool to poke the stem down through the hole to prevent damage.
I plan to reuse the Firestone tire and I see a good match for it locally on Craigslist. I am gonna get new tubes and try to install them after I get the rims cleaned up.

The pictures don't show up, but someone else can probably tell you what needs to be done differently.

Re: Front Tire Removal Pictures
Can someone tell me why the photos attached but aren’t showing? I have only an IPhone and emailed them to myself then saved them. Then attached them. I did not see the actual photos show up when I previewed my post but figured I would go ahead and submit the post then ask about it. Thanks

Right. He even beat me. I was aware of the problem from previewing my post but figured it made the most sense to submit and let that show the problem rather than try to explain it. If all else fails I can email the photos to somebody. It has been covered before but without pictures as far as I know.

Did you resize the file size? If you attached them from your phone they may be too big.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Re: Front Tire Removal Pictures
I did the following:
1.) emailed them to myself.
2.) when prompted chose Small (41.2 KB)
3.) opened the email and saved the images
4.) successfully attached the photos or at least I got the ✅
5.) placed them inline but got only jpeg name not actual photo
My experience on the iPhone is that the photos won’t even attach if they are too large. I had success with the procedure above before but only did it once before.
Thanks

Send the pix to my email and I will load them for you. Email is jeepguy1@cinci.rr.com. When prompted, choose medium.
When I tried to edit your post it did not show anything in the attachment section as if they had not actually been placed in line.

Lyle, you sent me the actual pix. I can't load those. Send me the files themselves.

It works now for some unknown reason. I have a more pictures but I think this shows the basic steps
Tire Irons
Push tire using knee and hook bead with tire iron.
Use tire irons every few inches
Pull off

Re: Front Tire Removal Pictures
I might have to look into a set. I've got the HF mini tire changer and it takes quite a while longer for me. Most of my time is spent trying to break the initial bead on small tires.

Re: Front Tire Removal Pictures
I broke the beads free driving my car on them. These tire irons are only good for hooking the bead and prying it off the tire. $5.99 each at Harbor Freight but light duty. They would bend under a heavy load but worked great for this purpose.

Re: Front Tire Removal Pictures
I intended to say - hook the bead and pry it over the rim, not pry it off the tire.
